Firebirds host Macalester in Home Opener, Look Ahead to CWPA Tourney

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage women's water polo team hosted Macalester for their home opener, falling 13-6 against the Scots.

How it Happened​
  • Emily Steingard kicked off the offense for the Firebirds with a goal in the final second of the first period, decreasing Macalester's lead to 4-1.
  • The Firebirds struggled throughout the second quarter, entering halftime down 9-1. 
  • Piper Dooley opened the third quarter with a strong offensive effort, scoring in the seventh minute, 9-2. 
  • Victoria Hodges built on the momentum, finding the net, 10-3, in the sixth minute of the game.
  • The Firebirds entered the fourth quarter trailing, 12-3.
  • Alyssa Sayatovic added two goals in the fourth quarter, chipping away at Macalester's 13-5 lead.
  • Yamila Areizaga closed the night out for the Firebirds with a final score in the final minutes, before falling 13-6 to Macalester.
