Men’s Basketball Pulls Away From North Park in Wednesday Home Contest

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage College men's basketball team stayed perfect at home as the team defeated North Park 76-62. 

The Basics
  • Final score: Carthage 76 - North Park 62
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Tarble Arena
  • Records: Carthage 15-7 (9-4 CCIW), North Park 10-13 (5-9 CCIW)
How it Happened
  • Julian Campbell started the game, winning the opening jump ball and scoring a layup to get the Firebirds started. 
  • A small lead from North Park was cut off by a layup from Fillip Bulatovic to bring the Firebirds back up 8-7. 
  • Carthage and North Park battled nearly point-for-point until a three-pointer from Campbell set the Firebirds on a 5-0 run to lead 25-23. 
  • A layup from Griffin Daun set Carthage ahead by three, but a three-pointer from North Park with five seconds on the clock ended the half 33-33. 
  • The Firebirds came in hot in the second half with a 6-0 run to leave 39-33. 
  • Antuan Nesbitt, who led second in points, came in with his second dunk of the night to keep the Firebirds ahead by eight. 
  • Both teams fought back and forth for the lead. With eight minutes left, Carthage led 59-48. 
  • After a long battle, Carthage stood strong and earned the season sweep over the Vikings. 76-62. 

High Flyers
  • Four Firebird starters totaled double-digit points: Fillip Bulatovic (26), Antuan Nesbitt (13), Julian Campbell (13), and Ryan Johnson (10).
  • Reigning conference Student-Athlete of the Week, Bulatovic hauled down 10 rebounds while Johnson had eight.
  • Nesbitt dished out six assists for Carthage on the day, pushing his season total to 105. Campbell added seven rebounds, while Colton Sigel had four.
