DUBUQUE, Iowa. — To begin the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play, the No. 11 Carthage College men's volleyball team fell to No. 6 Loras 3-0.

Ryan Cholewinski sparked the Firebirds' momentum with a kill, resulting in a 4-2 score.
Subsequently, Loras gained a one-point lead through an attack error.
Keegan Brumitt's kill brought the score to 21-19, but a 4-1 run by the Duhawks concluded the set, favoring the home team at 25-20.
Ben Heise secured a kill in the second set, narrowing the Duhawks' lead to one. However, Loras responded with a 6-1 run, extending the score to 18-12.
Despite consecutive kills from Heise and Brumitt closing the gap to four, Loras ultimately won the set 25-20.
The third set saw the home team taking an early lead at 6-2. Carthage fought back, equalizing at 11 with a kill from Brumitt.
A combination of a kill and ace from Grant Veldman and Brumitt leveled the set at 15.
Nevertheless, Loras surged ahead with a 9-2 run, establishing a 24-17 advantage.
Although kills from Heise and Owen Otto reduced the deficit to four, Loras secured the victory in the match with a final score of 25-20.

Keegan Brumitt led the Firebirds in kills with 13, followed by Owen Otto, recording 11.
Gene McNulty added 24 assists for Carthage on the day while having eight digs.
