Firebirds Earn Regular Season Series Sweep Over Wheaton

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage College men's basketball team picked up their 10th home victory on Wednesday night, defeating Wheaton (Ill.) 79-68. 

The Basics
  • Final score: Carthage 79 - Wheaton (Ill.) 68

How it Happened
  • Fillip Bulatovic and Antuan Nesbitt started the game with back-to-back layups to give the Firebirds a 4-0 lead. 
  • Wheaton tied the score early on 12, but a dunk from Griffin Daun gave Carthage a two-point lead to make the score 15-12. 
  • A three-pointer from Colton Sigel extended their lead to 20-15. 
  • Two free throws from Bulatovic pushed the Firebirds ahead by 10. 
  • To close out the half, Wheaton got hot from the offensive end, erasing the Firebirds' lead and bringing them to a 34-32 lead to end the half. 
  • Wheaton took a one-point lead with a three-pointer to make the score 46-45.
  • Sigel later tied it 50-50 with a three-pointer. 
  • The Thunder responded with a three of their own to get ahead three. 
  • Campbell scored the next nine of Carthages' twelve points, extending the lead to 65-56.
  • Carthage kept the lead for the remainder of the game with a free throw from Ryan Johnson to end 79-68


High Flyers
  • Julian Campbell totaled 22 points for Carthage on the day, nearly missing his season-best. Campbell also hauled in nine rebounds. 
  • Ryan Johnson added a double-double, concluding with 19 points and 14 rebounds. 
  • Fillip Bulatovic recorded 11 points and nine rebounds, while AJ Williams dished out a season-best seven assists.
