NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Carthage College women's wrestling team traveled to North Central College for a battle against the No. 3 North Central Cardinals on Wednesday evening. It was a tough night for the Firebirds, as the squad was shutout by the Cardinals



At 103 pounds, Kirsten Cortez lost by tech fall to Madison Avila (TF 12-0). The Cardinals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead.


Rebecca Di Silvestro was defeated by Kendra Ryan in the 110 bout (Fall 0:47). Ryan earned five points for the Cardinals.


Natalie Majer came up short at 117 pounds, falling by way of a tech fall to Sydney Petzinger (TF 10-0 1:53). The Cardinals extended the lead to 13-0.


Amani Jones defeated Alaina Hollendoner in the 124 pound bout (Fall 0:46). Margaret Anders was defeated by Emma Grimm in the 138 class (Fall 0:35).


Jennifer Villagomez represented the Firebirds at 145 pounds, but was defeated by Bella Mir with a tech fall (TF 10-0 1:30).


Izzee Nelson-Carrillo competed at 160 pounds and fell to Tiera Jimerson to extend the Cardinals lead (Fall 0:39). 


Shenita Lawson closed out the victory for the third-ranked Cardinals, defeating Makenna Bovee with a tech fall (TF 10-0 0:38).




The Firebirds will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 10 as Carthage travels to Adrian, Mich. to compete at the Adrian Open. Action begins at 10 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
