Carthage Soars to Victory, Defeating Millikin 88-78

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage College men's basketball squad picked up another conference win, defeating Millikin at home 88-78. 

The Basics
  • Final score: Carthage 88 - Millikin 78
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Tarble Arena
  • Records: Carthage 10-4 (4-1 CCIW), Millikin 6-8 (2-3 CCIW)
How it Happened
  • Carthage took an early lead, going up by six with back-to-back three-pointers from Julian Campbell to start the game. 
  • Later, the duo of Colton Sigel and Fillip Bulatovic utilized a three-pointer and a layup, putting the Firebirds ahead 16-11.
  • After Millikin briefly went up by two, two free throws from Antuan Nesbitt made it 24-18 with 8:26 left in the first. 
  • Ryan Johnson sank a three-point bucket, extending the lead to 12. 
  • Carthage entered the intermission break with a 48-38 lead.
  • In the second half, another bucket from Campbell made it a 58-42 score. 
  • Though Millikin cut the advantage to 10, layups from Ryan Johnson made it a 14-point game. 
  • Carthage held on to the lead for the remainder of the second half, ultimately winning 88-78.

High Flyers
  • Ryan Johnson had a career-best day off the bench, finishing with 25 points and going 8-for-10 from the field. 
  • Antuan Nesbitt and Julian Campbell each had 13 points in the contest, while Nesbitt nearly missed a double-double, dishing out nine assists.
  • Fillip Bulatovic added 11 points and four rebounds as he surpassed the 1,500 mark, which moved him to 1,513 career points. Bulatovic currently holds the No. 12 spot in the Carthage record book.
