  • After a pitching change for the Firebirds, Carthage came out with a solid inning defensively as UChicago went three up, three down.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Gwen Hendrick hit a line drive to center field to send Kelly Gaiser home, trimming the Firebirds' deficit to three, trailing 5-2.

Game Two:
  • UChicago's leadoff hitter homered in the top of the first inning to put the Maroons up 1-0. Later in the initial inning, the Maroons hit an RBI line drive to center field advancing to go ahead 2-0.
  • Izzy Hernandez answered in the bottom of the first, hitting an RBI line drive to center field. Hernandez was followed by Kristina Chronos hitting an RBI single, which tied the game at two.
  • Kirby Peters reached first base on a dropped third strike, which allowed Hernandez to steal home. On the very next play, Chronos stole home on a passed ball to put Carthage ahead 4-2 at the first innings' conclusion.
  • The Maroons delivered an RBI single to shortstop in the top of the second inning, bringing UChicago back to within one run.
