ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Carthage women's basketball team was defeated handily by the Augustana College Vikings on Saturday evening in Illinois, losing 74-48.
Lauren Knight was impressive for Carthage, scoring 20 points on 8-15 shooting in the defeat.

- Records: Carthage 9-12 (5-7 CCIW), Augustana 15-7 (9-4 CCIW).
- Carthage got out to an 8-7 lead midway through the opening quarter, as Lauren Knight scored a quick five points.
- Following a Malia Green layup to put the Firebirds up 12-11, the Vikings countered with a 10-1 run to seize an eight-point advantage after one quarter of play.
- Another five quick points from Knight chiseled the deficit to three early in the second period, but the Firebirds failed to score for nearly four minutes and Augustana re-gained control of the contest.
- The home team went ahead by 12 - its' largest lead of the night up to that point - before the Firebirds answered with five in a row. Augustana would go into the locker room with a 34-26 lead.
- An impressive 10-0 run to start the half for Augustana generated an 18-point lead for the Vikings midway through quarter three.
- The Viking advantage stretched to as many as 23 points as Carthage couldn't convert offensively nor generate any stops defensively. Augustana drilled five threes in the quarter and led 57-37 at its' conclusion.
- The Firebirds shot the ball better in the early part of the fourth quarter, but failed to score in the final 3:09 of game action as Augustana's large lead held firm. The Vikings defeated Carthage 74-48.
- Carthage's bench was outscored by 29 points tonight, and the Firebirds shot the ball at a 25.4/17.2/73.3% clip. On the contrary, Augustana shot 39.7/36.1/87.5% en route to a very solid offensive performance.
- Junior guard Lauren Knight put forth an excellent performance on the offensive end, scoring 20 points on an efficient 8-15 shooting. Knight hit four threes and gathered four rebounds.
- Marianna Morrissey collected 13 rebounds tonight, setting a new career high.
- Carthage's next matchup is with the North Central College Cardinals, taking place on Wednesday, February 8 starting at 7 p.m.
