Firebirds Fall on the Road Against North Central

KENOSHA, Wis. - On Wednesday, the Carthage women's basketball team fell 53-46 against North Central in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup. 

The Basics

How it Happened
  • The Firebirds got off to a slow offensive start as they trailed 10-6 with three minutes left in the first quarter. 
  • Carthage chipped away at the lead with a jumper by Elena Knebel in the final seconds, making it a two-point game, 12-10. 
  • The Firebirds struggled to carry the momentum in the second quarter, down by eight, 20-12, with five minutes left in the first half. 
  • Carthage entered halftime behind 25-19. 
  • The Firebirds kicked off the third quarter by scoring six points in the first two minutes, 27-23.
  • A layup by Marianna Morrisey with seconds left in the third made it a three-point game heading into the fourth. 
  • The Firebirds kept it a one-possession game, 46-42, with a three-pointer from Lauren Knight
  • Carthage could not get closer than six down the stretch, falling 53-46. 
High Flyers
  • Marianna Morrisey led the Firebirds with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Lauren Knight added 14 points and six rebounds.
  • Grace Cord added nine points to the offensive effort, while Addison Ebeling ended with ten rebounds.

  • Carthage will continue College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Saturday, December 9, against Elmhurst at 2 p.m.
