Firebirds Best IIT 83-79 in Friday Clash

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage College men's basketball team picked up another non-conference win on Friday evening, defeating IIT 83-79. 


The Basics
  • Final score: Carthage 83 - IIT 79

  • Records: Carthage 8-2, IIT 3-6 

How it Happened
  • Carthage started the night with a three from AJ Williams 15 seconds into the game. 
  • The Scarlet Hawks got within one with a jumper at 10:27. They soon took a two-point lead for a 24-23 score. 
  • A jumper and a free throw from Julian Campbell helped push the Firebirds ahead to end the half 35-33. 
  • Carthage went up by seven at 16:18 with a three-pointer from Antuan Nesbitt. 
  • The Firebirds held a five-point advantage until the 6:50 mark as two free-throws made it 59-56. 
  • A three-pointer from Ryan Johnson brought the score up 67-59 
  • The Scarlet Hawks got within two points after a layup at 4:11.  
  • Two final free throws from Nesbitt sealed the deal for the game, leading the Firebirds to an 83-79 win.
