  • Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin - Sadoff Gymnasium
  • Records: Carthage 3-1, Marian (Wis.) 0-2
How it Happened

  • Marian (Wis.) mounted a comeback, leveling the score at 21 with a pair of successful free throws.
  • Both teams engaged in a back-and-forth bout, with the lead never exceeding four points in the half's final minutes.
  • Carthage entered halftime with a 38-35 lead, courtesy of two free throws from Williams.
  • The Sabres narrowed the gap to one twice at the beginning of the second half, but a layup by Ryan Johnson extended the lead to 53-47.

  • A layup by Antuan Nesbitt with under two minutes left propelled the Firebirds ahead by seven.

Coachs Remarks
"Always happy to win on the road. 40 minutes against a zone means that you should get good looks if you share the ball. Antuan Nesbitt was terrific at attacking the gaps of their zone and finding teammates for looks. 10 assists to only two turnovers was what the team needed. Tanner Lamb and AJ Williams did a really nice spacing and knocked down some looks from the perimeter.

It was a tough matchup for us defensively as they went to a small, quick lineup and tried to space us out on the perimeter. We had a few chances to extend the lead in the second half but give Marian credit, they hit some tough shots!

It is a quick turnaround with NCAA tournament team Anderson coming in for our first home game of the year on Monday!"

Team Results
  • The Firebirds are back on the court on Monday, November 20, for the season's home opener against Anderson at 4:30 p.m.
