Women's Volleyball Falls to No. 19 North Park in Final Regular Season Home Contest

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Carthage women's volleyball team competed against No. 19 North Park on Wednesday, November 1, falling 3-1 in the last home conference game of the regular season. 

The Basics
  • Final score: North Park 3, Carthage 1
  • Location: Kenosha, Wis. - Tarble Arena 
  • Records: North Park 22-6 (7-0 CCIW), Carthage 15-12 (5-3 CCIW)

How it Happened
  • After an eight-point run by the Vikings, the Firebirds capitalized on a service error, followed by a kill from Kaitie Rohe
  • The Firebirds, late in the first set, capped off with a kill from Devinn Bell and an ace from Leena Ajibola.
  • The Vikings took the first set 25-18.
  • Carthage started the second set out with high intensity as Carthage grabbed three kills in the first seven points from Rohe and Kristina Manojlovic
  • Leena Ajibola and Liv Carel picked up a block to force the Vikings to call a timeout. 
  • The Firebirds got a huge block from Ajibola, accompanied by two kills from Carel and one from Ajibola, placing the score 21-20 for Carthage. 
  •  Following a three-point run sparked by a combined block from Carel and Katie Boston, the Firebirds took the second set 25-21. 
  • Carel gained a kill to stop the Viking run in the third. 
  • The Firebirds fought back with kills from Rohe, Carel, and Manojlovic, bringing Carthage within five points, but North Park won the third set 25-19. 
  • After being tied 13-13, North Park went on a four-point run and maintained that lead through the end of the match as the visitors won 25-18. 

High Flyers
  • Kaitie Rohe grabbed 13 kills in total, with Kristina Manojlovic trailing behind with eight kills.
  • Liv Carel picked up nine kills and three blocks assisted on the night.
  • Devinn Bell led the team in assists, finishing with 25 assists. 
  • Jenna Damon achieved an astounding 30 digs throughout the four sets, a match-best.

  • Carthage will play their final regular season road match on Saturday, November 4. 
  • The Firebirds will face Wisconsin-La Crosse at 3 p.m.
