Firebirds Collect Straight-Set Sweep in Wednesday Night Tilt with North Central

KENOSHA, Wis. - In Wednesday's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) action, the Carthage women's volleyball squad swept North Central (Ill.) 3-0 inside Tarble Arena.

How it Happened
  • Early in the first, a Kinsey Bakhaus kill put the Firebirds up by one. 
  • Both teams traded point for point until Kristina Manojlovic connected on a kill, which put the home team ahead 14-11. 
  • A Liv Carel kill made it 19-15 as Carthage went on to win the first with a closing kill from Devinn Bell 25-17. 
  • With the score locked at 11 in the second, Bakhaus hit another kill for a 14-13 score, forcing a North Central (Ill.) timeout. 
  • Tatum Kebisek tallied an ace, which propelled the Firebirds ahead by one. 
  • Though the Cardinals got within four, Carthage won off an attack error 25-20. 
  • In the third, the visitors jumped in front 12-8 early. 
  • Carthage battled back, going ahead by one following a Leena Ajibola kill. 
  • North Central (Ill.) tied it at 20 before four straight points for the Firebirds made it 24-20 following an ace from Manojlovic. 
  • After the Cardinals shrank the deficit to two, Carel used a kill to win the match for Carthage 25-22.
