Firebirds Halted by No. 7 Wheaton

KENOSHA, Wis.  — On a snowy Saturday afternoon, the Carthage College men's basketball squad fell to No. 7 Wheaton (Ill.) 76-60 at home. 

The Basics
  • Final score: Wheaton (Ill.) 76 - Carthage 60
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Tarble Arena
  • Records: Wheaton (Ill.) 17-3 (9-2 CCIW), Carthage 13-6 (6-5 CCIW)

How it Happened 
 
  • Carthage started with an early 15-12 margin off a jumper from Antuan Nesbitt. 
  • The Thunder flipped the score going up seven with 7:23 left in the half with a jumper.
  • A layup for the visitors pushed the advantage to 11 with 2:35 remaining as a jumper from Julian Campbell made it 39-31 heading into halftime. 
  • In the second half, Wheaton (Ill.) pushed the lead to 14 with a fastbreak layup. 
  • Later, a layup from Campbell cut the deficit to 67-56; however, the Thunder held on to take the game 76-60.
