INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Carthage College men's swim student-athlete Mitchell Mages finished the NCAA Championship on Saturday with the 200-yard breaststroke event.

Mages placed 25th in the event. On Thursday of the NCAA Championships, the senior registered a time of 49.24 in the 100-yard butterfly. The time broke Nick Seroni's 2020 100-yard butterfly record (49.66). Mages moved up from 45th to 35th place.

On Friday, Mages was an All-American honorable mention selection as he started the day with a 54.76 clocked time in the preliminary morning event. The prelim time set the senior up for a 16th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in the night session with a time of 55.87.

Mages concludes his career at Carthage with five All-American honors, four the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) records, five CCIW championship records, nine Carthage school records, 19 combined individual and relay CCIW titles, and 25 all-conference honors.

"Mitchell helped us close out another great Carthage Swim & Dive season in Indy this week," said head coach Seth Weidmann. "He has done amazing things for our program and has represented Carthage and the CCIW well. The ups and downs have been extreme for many of us over the past couple of years, but Mitchell was able to persevere and finish a spectacular career with a strong showing at the NCAA Championships."
