Carthage Softball Drops Close Contest to Scranton

CLERMONT, Fla. — In a rematch of Sunday's game, the Carthage College softball team fell to Scranton 4-3 on Tuesday.

Carthage (2-3) got on the board first in the bottom of the second as Alaina Azar singled to right center which scored Maddie Conway. Senior Donna Stevens then hit a two-run homer moving the score to 3-0 in the third. Scranton (5-4) flipped the score with a four-run homer taking control of the game 4-3. Though the Firebirds had runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, back-to-back outs sealed the win for the Royals.

Game two between Carthage and St. Scholastica was rained out due to a tornado warning in the area. It is yet to be determined if the game will be made up.

Up next, day four of the Spring Games as Carthage faces Amherst at 11 a.m. and Coe at 1:15 p.m.
