Firebirds Men’s Swim and Dive Team Still in Top Spot after Day Two of CCIW Swimming Championships

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — On the second day of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimming Championships, the Carthage College men's swim and dive team still sits in first place after recording 273 team points on Friday for a total of 577.5 points. 

Mitchell Mages picked up his second individual all-conference medal taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke. Paul Busse picked a second-place all-conference time of (4:09.62) in the 400-yard individual medley, while Christian Snyder took third in the 100-yard butterfly (50.92). Michael Bartczyszyn registered third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.14. 

In relay events, the team of Conner Hwang, Mages, Snyder, and Adam Moskus collected a first-place time of 1:31.34 in the 200-yard medley race for another all-conference accolade for the Firebirds. Hwang, Jacob Hardt, Busse, and Bartczyszyn recorded a second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay. 

The finale of the CCIW Swimming Championships begins on Saturday, February 19, with preliminary races starting at 10:30 a.m.
