Men’s Swim and Dive Sit in First After Day One of CCIW Swimming Championships

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Carthage College men's swim and dive team sits in first place with 284.5 total points after day one of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Swimming Championships held at the RecPlex Aquatic Center. 

Carthage was led by senior Mitchell Mages, who set a new CCIW meet and open record in the 200-yard individual medley with a winning time of 1:49.90. Classmate Adam Moskus placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.11.

In relay events, the 200-yard freestyle relay team won with a first-place time of 1:22.89 with swimmers Christian SnyderConner Hwang, Mages, and Moskus. The 400-yard medley relay team of Ben Keller, Mages, Snyder, and Moskus claimed second with a time of 3:23.33.

The all-conference designation is given to student-athletes who finished in the top 3 in individual events and the first-place finishers in the relays at the CCIW Championships.

Day two begins on Friday, February 18, with preliminary races starting at 10:30 a.m.
