Carthage Dive Teams Shine at CCIW Diving Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Carthage College men's and women's dive teams concluded the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships with diving events on Saturday.

On the women's side, Kaycee Siears took second (295.05) in the one-meter event while Patricia Banasik (243.40) took third. The pair went on to take first and second in the three-meter event with scores of 293.80 and 277.10 respectively.

For the men, Sam Wallace took first with a score of 483.60 in the one-meter competition followed by Daniel Staicu in third (237.85) and Manny Contreras in fourth (229.85). In the three-meter event, Wallace won with a score of 517.80 followed by Staicu in third (229.90).

Wallace set CCIW Conference meet records and pool records in both events while his score in the three-meter competition was a new personal best. Banasik, Siears, and Staicu also registered new personal bests: Banasik in the three-meter, Siears in the three-meter, and Staciu in both events.

The swim portion of the CCIW Championships will begin on Thursday, February 17 starting at 10:30 a.m.
