KENOSHA, Wis.— In their last non-conference game before starting conference play, the Carthage College men's basketball team defeated Ripon 89-69 on Tuesday night.

The Firebirds came out of the gate with a 16-point lead as AJ Johnson dialed in a long-range three-pointer.
Back-to-back three-pointers from Antuan Nesbitt and Tanner Lamb made it 34-12 with 10 minutes left.
Later a layup from Johnson and a bucket from Nesbitt made it 47-23 as Carthage headed into halftime with a 19-point lead.
Ripon battled back in the second half, getting it to 10 with a lone free throw.
Six-straight points from Johnson put the home team back ahead 73-54.
With 5:05 left, Fillip Bulatovic added another three-pointer making the score 81-59 as Carthage cruised to the 89-69 victory.

For the second-straight game, AJ Johnson led the Firebirds in points with 24. Johnson shot 10-14 from the field and grabbed five rebounds.
Fillip Bulatovic added 20 points and nearly missed a double-double on the day finishing with nine rebounds. Bulatovic is now five points shy of 1,000 career points.
Antuan Nesbitt poured in 17 points, a team-best six assists, and five rebounds.
The Firebird offense shot 19-25 from the floor and 6-8 from long range in the first half.
