NAPERVILLE, Ill. —  In the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Soccer Tournament Wednesday evening, the Carthage College men's soccer team fought hard against North Central (Ill.) but fell 1-0.  

• Final score: North Central (Ill.) 1 - Carthage 0
• Location: Naperville, Illinois - Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium
• Records: North Central (Ill.) (15-0-4), Carthage (8-7-5)

• 18 minutes into the game, the Cardinals, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, scored first to take a 1-0 into halftime. 
• Though the Firebirds registered seven shots in the second half, they were unable to equalize. 

• Mickey Reilly and Jack Georgi each tallied two shots for the Firebirds in the contest. 
• Eli Schoffstall, Luis Garduno and Omar Cordova each had one. 
• In net, Tino Korhonen made five saves on 17 shots faced. 

 


"Always disappointing when the season comes to an end. We played well tonight and gave it our full effort, but just came up short. North Central is a strong team and demonstrated again why they are undefeated this year. I'm proud of our season and proud of the players, particularly the seniors who we wish well in their future careers after graduation. We will rest and recover after a heavy season and then begin the process of developing the squad to compete for the CCIW next year."
