WHEATON, Ill. - After rattling off three consecutive wins over conference competition to earn the program's first postseason berth since 2015, the 2022 season has ended for women's soccer at the hands of #3 Wheaton. The Thunder persevered over Carthage in a 1-0 home victory on Saturday evening and will move on to the CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament Semifinals. 



 

• Final Score: Wheaton 1, Carthage 0. 
• Location: Joe Bean Stadium - Wheaton, Ill. 
• Records: Carthage 3-8-5 (3-4-1 CCIW), Wheaton 6-8-3 (4-3-1 CCIW)

 

• Wheaton outshot Carthage 8-3 in the first half but neither team was able to find the back of the net, leading to a 0-0 halftime score. 
• The Thunder's Audrey Sexson broke the tie in the 59th minute thanks to an assist from Mia Blair. 
• Carthage was only able to muster two shots in the latter half of play, and neither proved to be the equalizer that the Firebirds needed to extend their season. 

 

• Goalkeeper Ainsley Stallworth, who was in the midst of a streak of three-straight shutouts, allowed only one goal and tallied six saves. 
• Yuvia Ontiveros, Katie Talens, and Stephanie Mitchell each recorded shots on goal. 
• Junior defender Veronica Walker led the team with two shots in tonight's contest.
