Men’s Swim and Dive Takes Top Spot at Wisconsin Private Championships

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's swimming and diving team came in first at the Wisconsin Private Championships held at Koenitzer Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday, scoring 287 points.

The Firebirds came away with 14 victories between the two days as reigning CCIW Diver of the Week Sam Wallace won the three-meter and one-meter events. 

Christian Snyder won the 50-yard and 200-yard freestyle events while Conner Hwang took the 500-yard freestyle. Mitchell Mages notched three first-place finishes taking the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard butterfly. Jacob Hardt clocked a winning time of 48.15 in the 100-yard freestyle, Matt Janovsky registered a time of 2:06.58 in the 200-yard butterfly, Jacob Simonek won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.35), Ben Keller won the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.48) and Paul Busse picked up a victory in the 400-yard individual medley (4:10.89). 

In relay events, the team of Keller, Mages, Snyder, and Adam Moskus won the 200-yard medley event with a time of 1:35.47. 

Up next, Carthage returns to the pool on Saturday, February 5, participating in the University of Illinois-Chicago Diving Invitational at 11 a.m.
