Firebirds Close Spring Schedule with 4-1 Win over Trinity International

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage men's soccer team finished their spring season with a 4-1 home win over Trinity International University on Saturday night at Art Keller Field.

"It's hard to say we got lucky, but we kind of did," said head coach Steve Domin. "Trinity, like us, was sifting through lineups, and they did a good job of staying behind the ball. They drew level on a wonderful shot by their target forward and made it a competitive match."

The Firebirds (5-0) jumped on the board first, as Conrad Bolster found Cesar Recendez for a goal minutes into the match. While Carthage held a 1-0 lead at the half, Trinity International (4-10) evened the score minutes into the second half. However, Joe Balas broke the tie with a goal midway through the half, with Kevin Reilly extending the Firebird lead with less than 20 minutes remaining in the match. Collin Moran would add a fourth score for Carthage moments later.

"Some late-game fouls went in our favor which opened the door, some really nice fireworks for the last day of the season," said Domin. "We say goodbye to some really important seniors; Conrad Bolster, Arnie Arevalo and Steve Owens. It will be hard to look out there and not see them. Monday we start thinking about the fall!"
