KENOSHA, Wis. — In their second home doubleheader of the season, the Carthage College softball team continued the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Tuesday sweeping Wheaton (Ill.) 4-1 in game one and 6-3 in game two at Carthage Softball Field. 
Carthage (7-5, 5-3 CCIW) got on the board first in game one with a Wheaton (Ill.) (9-7, 6-4 CCIW) error later, Madison Ganir scored extending the advantage to 2-0. A double from Madison Kern in the third allowed Naomi Alonzo to score and made it 3-0. Following a sacrifice fly from 
Donna Stevens which was deep enough to score 
Bella Spittler, the Thunder tallied a lone run but the Firebirds won the game with a final popout 4-1. 
Carthage struck first in game two with a solo home run from Ellie Bernero in the second inning. Wheaton (Ill.) responded with a single run in the third before a two-run double from Rylee Johnson and a Thunder error gave the Firebirds a 4-1 advantage. After Wheaton (Ill.) tacked on a run in the fifth, Johnson hit a single that allowed Alonzo to score then Courtney Polanski doubled to right center which scored Johnson. Though the Thunder scored in the seventh a final groundout sealed the victory for Carthage 6-3. 
Next up, the Firebirds are scheduled to play Carroll (Wis.) on Thursday, April 8 starting at 3 p.m.
