Carthage Men’s Soccer Travels to Elmhurst for Exhibition

4/22/2021 9:13:00 PM

ELMHURST, Ill. — Carthage's men's soccer team took to the road for a conference scrimmage on Thursday evening, as they faced Elmhurst at Langhorst Field.

"With the status of this game moving to a scrimmage, we took the opportunity to keep a bunch of people off the field, play some others out of position not to tip too much off, and got a chance to play a quality varsity side with stretched line-ups," said head coach Steve Domin. "Nothing really operated with much flow or organization for either team, however, some great individual efforts by Joseph Balas, Quinn Roth, and a series of reserve players who towed the line. We haven't been able to put that many minutes together for the newest players and today helped at least raise their fitness."

"Clearly we are disappointed this wasn't a varsity game in approach and excitement, and we're internally starving for varsity matches to showcase our first and second-deep guys in true order," said Domin. "But we will take the opportunities as they present themselves. It was wonderful to play some keepers who haven't got minutes like that too."

Up next, Carthage will head to Greenville for a scrimmage tomorrow beginning at noon.
