Firebirds Host Carroll for Exhibition

4/18/2021 9:43:00 PM

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's soccer team continued their spring schedule on Sunday night, hosting Carroll University for an exhibition at Art Keller Field.

"Today was a great start," said head coach Steve Domin. "We played near nine varsity starters like we did against North Park University earlier in the year and it showed. These matches are tricky because they are fairly scripted in minutes and objective so the games often take on a different flow. You can almost see the patterns develop as the teams started to mix up the line-ups in the second period."

"Very appreciative of Carroll making the trek down with a lot of emotion on campus surrounding recent events in the community North of us," said Domin. "Our guys needed to play to think about other things. Credit to Carroll, as we had to leave a few guys out there in the second half past script to keep the house in order. Well coached. I am actually optimistic because we really had our weakest varsity outing for the year collectively in the first half and found other ways to get forward."

"The team, and really the program, is so young we need these experiences," said Domin. "We need to continue to manage different types of games."

Up next for the Firebirds is a match at Elmhurst on Thursday, April 22 at 6:45 p.m. This will be Carthage's second official contest of the spring season, after defeating Augustana 4-0 on April 11.
