Firebirds Take Care of Business at Illinois Wesleyan to Close Out 2021 Season

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — In their regular season finale, the Carthage men's soccer team defeated Illinois Wesleyan 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Neis Field.

The Firebirds (12-6-2, 3-4-1 CCIW) took a quick lead early in the match, as leading scorer Mickey Reilly found the back of the net in the third minute. In the final minutes of the first half, Carthage took a corner with just over a minute left before the break. An attempt by Aidan Crowder was blocked by the Titans (6-8-1, 2-5-1 CCIW) defense, before Reilly scored yet again before the halftime whistle.

  • With a pair of goals today, Mickey Reilly closed out the final stretch of the schedule with six goals and two assists over the last five matches.
  • Reilly ends his sophomore campaign with 30 total points, which is tied for the seventh-most in a single season at Carthage.
