Carthage College Senior Spotlight: Women’s Track and Field

6/12/2020 1:57:00 PM

Carthage College Athletics would like to recognize the hard work and dedication that the seniors of each spring sport put in during their time on campus. Today, we honor the women's track and field class of Nicole Del Monico, Brianna Kloster, Katie Kremer, Kathryn McKinnon, Molly McQueeny, Johnelle Miner, Sarah Schmidt, Elizabeth Willis, Tyra Wooster.

"I want to wish these ladies, as well as all Carthage seniors the very best in the future!" says head coach Stephanie Domin. "Our season was not what many of these seniors had hoped, but they are amazing leaders. We had an unbelievable indoor season and were led by these individuals that have given so much to our program; commitment, determination and heart, over their four years. I believe these student-athletes have just begun to show the world their many talents and we can not wait to see their path. They will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed by the Lady Reds family!"

The first senior we'd like to recognize is Nicole Del Monico. A biology major, she plans to attend dentistry school and continue working in her father's dentist office. She joined the Carthage track and field program after she was a member of the Carthage running club.

Next up is distance runner Brianna Kloster. A member of both the cross country and track and field teams, the Rockton, Ill. native ran in the Tadd Metzger Invitational and Carthage Final Qualifier this past indoor season.

Our next senior is Katie Kremer. She ran the 800 in three meets this past season, posting a personal best at the CCIW Championships with a time of 2:48.43.

Up next is Kathryn McKinnon, a distance runner from Kenosha, Wis. Primarily running the 3,000-meter run this past season, McKinnon posted a season-best time of 12:13.80 at the UW Parkside Classic in February.

The next senior in the 2020 women's track and field class is Molly McQueeny. The distance runner has earned CCIW All-Academic honors each season while at Carthage, and earned top-10 finishes at the conference championship in both the distance medley relay and 800-meter run.

Next up is Johnelle Miner. The distance runner from Stratford, Wis. picked up a PR early in the season in the 1,000 at the Tadd Metzger Invitational with a time of 3:25.95, and earned top-10 finishes in the 3,000 and DMR at the CCIW Championship.

The next senior being recognized today is Sarah Schmidt. The Darwin, Minn. native has numerous accolades as a thrower for the Lady Reds, including USTFCCCA All-American honors this past year after ranking third in the weight throw at 19.20 meters, and sixth in the shot put at 14.06 meters nationally.

The next senior is thrower Elizabeth Willis. An All-American in the weight throw and shot put, the Mendota, Ill. native ranked second in the weight throw at 19.28 meters and fourth in the shot put at 14.26 meters across Division III, and owns the school record in the indoor weight throw.

Our final member of the women's track and field senior class being recognized is Tyra Wooster. Joining the program from Mukwonago, Wis., she has earned CCIW All-Academic honors every season and set PR's on the track in both the 1,000 meter run and mile this past season.
