Clermont, Fla. — The No. 20 Carthage College softball team split on day four of their spring trip falling in game one to Mount St. Joseph 2-0 before winning the second game 4-0 over No. 14 Ithaca on Wednesday at Legends Way Park.
The Lions (7-6) broke the scoreless tie in the fifth of game one. Mount St. Joseph added a lone run to double the advantage and go on to take the game 2-0.
The Lady Reds (7-1) rebounded in game two scoring two runs in the third with an RBI double from Makenzie Miller and an RBI single from
Courtney Polanski.
Naomi Alonzo singled to right center in the fourth that allowed
Taylor Zielinski to come home to score making it 3-0 over the Bombers (1-4).
Rylee Johnson singled through the left side that allowed
Marissa Maldonado to come across to plate for the 4-0 victory.
Day five of the spring games starts on Thursday March, 12 against Gordon at 8 a.m. CST at Legends Way Park.
"I was very happy with the way we bounced back from game one today. We faced a good pitcher in game one but we have to play better defense and adjust at the plate. I'm so proud of our team of how they picked each other up in game to against Ithaca!"
