KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's basketball team picked up their ninth home victory of the season with a 67-63 win over Carroll (Wis.) in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) competition Wednesday at Tarble Arena. 

The visitors took a quick 10-4 lead to start the game before the Red Men (11-7, 4-6 CCIW) put together a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to one with a layup from Sean Johnson. A three pointer from Fillip Bulatovic tied the game at 16 with 8:56 remaining in the half. The Pioneers (9-10, 2-8 CCIW) again grew the lead to five before a jumper from Bulatovic, a free throw from Kienan Baltimore and a layup from Bulatovic tied the game at 22 apiece. Carroll (Wis.) would take a one-point lead into the intermission break 25-24. 

It was a back-and-forth effort to begin the second half as Carthage held a five-point lead with a layup from Brad Perry to make it 42-37 in favor of the Red Men. The Pioneers shrank the margin to two before taking control of the game with a bucket at the 9:01 mark. Carroll (Wis.) pushed the advantage back to four at 58-54 with 5:12 left, however the Red Men closed out the game with a 13-5 run to come away with the victory 67-63. 

Carthage hits the road facing No. 8 Elmhurst on Wednesday, February 5 at 7 p.m.

"It was a much needed win in an exciting game. I thought we defended well all night and had an offensive spark when we needed it in the second half. Kienan Baltimore was outstanding for the last 20 minutes. We have a bye on Saturday and road trip to Elmhurst on Wednesday. Hope we can keep this momentum."
