ADRIAN, MICH.—With two games remaining on their 2019 regular season slate, the #1 Carthage College men's volleyball team needed just one more victory to cement the 2019 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Regular Season Championship.
Mission accomplished.
The Red Men's 3-0 sweep at Adrian College on Saturday afternoon cemented them the 2019 MCVL Regular Season Championship outright. Carthage, who will host the four-team MCVL Tournament on April 12-13, has either tied or claimed a share of a regular season championship 12 times in their 14-season history.
Matt Reinsel was the story for Carthage as he came through with a career-high nine assisted blocks along with nine digs and 42 assists. Reinsel engineered a Carthage unit that accumulated a season-high 18 assisted blocks. Also showing his worth for the Carthage defense was
Blake Arnold, who tallied a game-high 14 digs along with four set assists.
Matt Slivinski was nothing short of sensational in the regular-season clinching win as he collected a game-high 17 kills, where eight occurred in the third set.
Evan Walsh was a force both ways with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Carthage hit .330 as a team and held the Bulldogs to a .083 figure.
The Red Men, who've now swept the opposition in 12 of their last 13 games, improve to 21-1, 7-0 MCVL and push their win streak to 14 games. Adrian falls to 15-13, 3-4 MCVL.

The Red Men torched an astonishing 20 kills in the opening set, where they led from start-to-finish in a 25-20 victory over the Bulldogs. Seven of those kills belonged to
Evan Walsh, where Reinsel fed the offense with 18 assists.
Adrian mustered just seven kills in the second set, where Walsh and Slivinski each tallied four for Carthage en route to a 25-18 win over the Bulldogs.
Slivinski and Reinsel saved their best for set three. Slivinski erupted with eight kills in the third frame, while Reinsel was a force at the net with five assisted blocks to cement Carthage a 25-14 win and 3-0 match sweep.
The Red Men will conclude their 2019 regular season on Friday, April 5 against North Central College (Ill.) at 7:00 p.m. Seniors
