KENOSHA, WIS.—The #1 Carthage College men's volleyball team entered the stretch run of their 2019 season with a home-bout against Augustana College on Friday night. The Red Men pushed their win streak to 11 with a 3-0 sweep over the Vikings.
"We played really well tonight, our serve-receive offense was excellent as we sided out at close to 80 percent," said Red Men head volleyball coach
L.J. Marx. "We had a few moments where our defense was a little lax and missed some easy balls, but once we re-grouped the guys played really well."
The Red Men mustered a season-best .383 hitting mark on the night, and held the Vikings to just a .074 figure.
Matt Slivinski paced Carthage with 12 kills along with a .368 hitting percentage, while
Evan Walsh followed with a 10-kill effort.
Braeden Waumans chipped in nine kills and a .500 hitting mark.
Matt Reinsel, who posted 36 assists, came through with a season-high 11 digs to lead the Carthage defense.

Parker Connolly and Walsh each tallied a pair of blocks for the Red Men. Winter and Connolly also contributed offensively with seven and six kills respectively.
Jason Szara led Augustana with eight kills.
The Red Men improve to 18-1, 5-0 MCVL while Augustana falls to 9-12, 3-2 MCVL.

Walsh registered seven of his 10 kills in the first set, which propelled the Red Men in a 25-13 victory in set one. The Vikings' latest lead in set two was at 19-18, which ignited a Carthage 7-1 run to end the set. Five Augustana errors, and a pair of

Matt Slivinski came up huge with eight kills in set three for the Red Men, who concluded the frame with a 6-2 run en route to a 25-17 win and 3-0 match victory.
The Red Men will host Loras College tomorrow, Saturday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. Loras is fresh off a 3-0 sweep over #8 North Central College tonight.
"Loras is a very tough opponent as we played them in the conference tournament finals last year," said Marx. "They're coming off a really big win tonight against North Central so it should be a really exciting match and high-level volleyball."
