#4 Red Men Dominate #7 Stars 3-0

KENOSHA, WIS.—The #4 Carthage College men's volleyball team welcomed #7 Dominican University to Tarble Arena on Wednesday for a revenge match from last season's NCAA Division III Regional Final. Revenge was given on behalf of the Red Men with a 3-0 sweep over the Stars, who now exit Wednesday with a three-match losing skid.

Carthage dominated the efficiency battle with a .323 hitting percentage over Dominican's .111 mark. Evan Walsh and Matt Slivinski had a lot to do with that as they each were the lone two players in the match with double-digit kills. Walsh escaped Wednesday with a team-leading 13 kills and a .321 hitting percentage. Slivinski was on his heels with 12 kills along with a team-leading .360 hitting percentage. Kai Cromwell, who chipped in nine kills, paced Carthage with 11 digs.

The Red Men push their win streak to five and sport a 12-1 overall record while Dominican's losing skid puts them at 9-4 overall.

The Stars led on five occasions in set one, which included a 21-19 cushion. Back-to-back kills from Cromwell followed by an Eric Winter kill gave Carthage a 22-21 lead that provoked a Dominican timeout. The break helped the Stars tie the score twice at 22-22 and 23-23 before kills from Winter and Slivinski cemented a 25-23 win for Carthage in set one.

Slivinski's five kills in set two helped Carthage lead from start-to-finish in a 25-17 decision. Eleven Stars errors combined with four Evan Walsh kills in set three secured a 25-15 win for Carthage.

The Red Men will host Mount St. Joseph University on Friday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m.
