Red Men End 2018-19 Season With Loss to #4 Vikings

KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's basketball team's 2018-19 season finale pitted them at home against #4 Augustana College. The Red Men led for much of the opening stages of the first half, but couldn't salvage things in a 81-67 loss to the Vikings. Mike Canady was honored prior to Saturday's game as part of the senior day festivities.

Kienan Baltimore torched the Vikings for a game-high 28 points, while Sean Johnson rounded out the Red Men in double figure scoring with 16 points and a team-high five boards. Ironically, both Baltimore and Johnson ended up fouling out before things were said and done.

The Red Men converted a respectable .442 (23-52) field goal percentage and .429 (6-14) three-point field goal percentage, but it was Augustana that upped those totals with a .618 (34-55) field goal percentage and a .538 figure from beyond the arch. Four Vikings reached double figures, led by Pierson Wofford's 21 points.

The Red Men conclude their 2018-19 season with an 8-17, 3-13 CCIW record while Augustana will enter the CCIW Tournament as the #1 seed with a 23-2, 15-1 CCIW record.

Vikings 81, Red Men 67

Kienan Baltimore scored 19 first-half points for the Red Men, helping them lead (23-21) as late as the 6:54 mark of the first half, where the Vikings began a 10-0 run en route to a 29-23 advantage with 4:21 left. The Red Men, who trailed 40-36 at halftime, registered a .500 (13-26) field goal percentage in the opening 20:00.

They couldn't match that figure in the second half as the Vikings' .667 (16-24) second-half field goal percentage powered them to an 81-67 victory over the Red Men.
