SAN JUAN, P.R. — The No. 18 Carthage College men's basketball team finished the Puerto Rico Classic with a 92-75 win over Birmingham–Southern on Thursday.

Carthage began the second half with a 20-11 run to make it 60-51 sparked by back-to-back layups from Kienan Baltimore. Another 16-9 run for the Red Men extended the advantage to 76-60 before Carthage cruised to the 92-75 victory.

The Red Men wrap up 2019 traveling to face Olivet on New Years Eve day. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CST.

Head Coach Bosko Djurickovic

"It was a good way to finish up a fun trip! Birmingham-Southern played terrific in the first half. We didn't adjust well to the different types of defense they were playing. In the second half was a much better effort. Preston Laketa can really shoot it and he made some big baskets for us tonight. Sean Johnson continues to be effective on both ends of the floor. Jordon Kedrowski continues to score the ball at a high percentage. Hope everyone has a great Christmas break!"

Quick Facts

  • Johnson collected his fifth double-double on the season finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Along with Johnson, three Red Men recorded double-figures in points: Jordon Kedrowski (21), Preston Laketa (12) and Fillip Bulatovic (11).
  • Laketa went four-for-four from three point range.
  • Kienan Baltimore and Crishawn Cook each recorded five assists in the contest.
  • It marks the sixth game this season Carthage has scored 90 or more points.
