KENOSHA, Wis. – The women's swimming and diving team up the season home opener defeating Illinois Wesleyan (177-117) and Illinois Tech (212-71) Saturday at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
Becca Rutkowski collected three first place victories for the Lady Reds on the day while helping the relay team of
Heather Walker,
Gianna McGuire and
DeAnn Jones recorded a time of 1:38.18 in the 200-yard freestyle relay for first.
Jordyn Bloode placed first in the 500-yard freestyle and second in the 1000-yard freestyle while Walker took first in the 100-yard backstroke and second in the 200-yard backstroke.
The relay team of Mackinzee Macho, Walker, McGuire and Jones picked up first in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:51.86.
Trisha Garcia and
Julia Cozzi both took first in the one meter and three meter diving events respectively.
Carthage stays at home facing North Central and Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday, November 23 starting at 12 p.m.
"It was a solid meet and great to see different swimmers step up. I was impressed after a tough week of training and I hope to continue to build from the performances as we are almost to the halfway point of our season."
