THE GAMES
- A pair of road games stand in front of the Carthage College women's basketball team (9-5, 3-2 CCIW) this week as they'll face North Central College (Ill.) (3-12, 1-5 CCIW) in Naperville, Illinois on Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m., and Augustana College (10-5, 4-2 CCIW) in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, January 12 at 5:00 p.m.
- The Lady Reds will look to exploit a North Central squad that rank towards the bottom of NCAA Division III in field goal percentage defense (.415), rebounding margin (-6.4), personal fouls per game (20.0), scoring defense (70.5) and three-point field goal percentage defense (32.3).Â
- Freshman Alanna Newsome paces the Cardinals in scoring with 14.7 points per game while junior Natali Dimitrova commands the team with 5.7 rebounds per game.Â
- North Central's three victories in 2018-19 occurred against Knox (62-54), Augustana (69-58) and Dubuque (72-57).Â

- The Augustana Vikings are coming in hot with a six-game winning streak that dates back to a 61-54 decision over Dubuque on December 12.
- Senior Izzy Anderson, who ranks seventh in the country with 82 free throws made, paces the squad with 17.3 points per game through 15 games. Anderson's 102 free throw attempts in 2018-19 is 12th among NCAA Division III women's basketball players. As a team, Augustana is seventh in the country with 235 made free throws.
- Reigning CCIW Player of the Week Alexis Jones is second on the team in scoring with 15.6 points per game along with a team-leading .551 (92-167) field goal percentage.Â

- Maggie McCloskey-Bax (3-12) is in her first season as North Central head women's basketball coach.Â

Bailey Gilbert, who now owns a school-record 214 career three-point field goals made, now carries 963 career points, 37 shy of becoming the 23rd Carthage women's basketball player to eclipse 1,000. Gilbert is currently second in school history with 539 three-pointers attempted, 25 shy of tying Angela Beyer's (2001-04) school-record mark of 564.Â
