KENOSHA, WI. -  Director of Athletics Michelle Manning wasted no time appointing her first head coach on Monday, naming Ian Wilson as the Carthage women's soccer program's fourth head coach on her first official day on the job.

"I'm excited to announce Ian Wilson as the next Head Coach of the Carthage Women's Soccer program," said Manning.  "Ian has coaching experience in Division III and within the CCIW as well as experience recruiting both regionally and nationally.  He has demonstrated a commitment to academic and athletic excellence and I am excited for him to lead our women's soccer team this fall."

Wilson comes to Carthage after serving as an assistant coach for the past six years at College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, Illinois Wesleyan University.  During his time with the Titans women's program, Ian was a member of a staff that accumulated an 89-34-10 overall record and five NCAA postseason berths, including a national semifinal appearance in 2014, a pair of CCIW regular season titles and a CCIW Tournament championship in 2016.

Additionally, while serving as the primary goalkeeper coach at Illinois Wesleyan, Wilson mentored Titan goalkeepers to 49 shutouts over six season and a .70 goal against average since 2012.

"I am absolutely elated to be the next head women's soccer coach at Carthage College," said the newly appointed head coach.  "Carthage's fantastic academic reputation, prime location on the shores of Lake Michigan and great facilities made the college a perfect fit. The team has tremendous upside and potential for growth to become a CCIW and central region powerhouse."

An experienced recruiter, Ian has helped in the recruitment and placement of high school players into college programs as the Illinois Fire Juniors College Assistance Program Coordinator.  Along with his time with Illinois Fire Juniors, Wilson has served as the under-18 head coach for American International Sports Teams, and as an assistant for Normal Community High School and Luther College.

Wilson noted, "Being from Southeastern Wisconsin, this was an incredible opportunity to come home. I would like to thank Athletic Director Michelle Manning, President Dr. John R. Swallow, and the search committee for offering me this opportunity to become a part of the Carthage family. I plan to carry on the rich and honored tradition of Red Men and Lady Reds athletics."

A native of Milwaukee, Wilson earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and History from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2003 and earned his Masters in College Student Development and Administration from La Crosse in 2005.
