Red Men Cruise Past Panthers 16-7, Improve to 4-0

HANOVER, IND.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team kicked-off their four-game spring break week with a Sunday-matinee at Hanover College. The dynamic duo of Andy Szun and Brody Ilstrup continued their elusiveness for the Red Men as they registered a 16-7 victory over the Panthers.

Szun, who opened the contest with three-straight goals, capped out at five for the day. Ilstrup added two goals as the duo closed the game with seven of the 16 goals scored. Ethan Flight, who left Carthage's victory over Hope College prematurely to injury, came back with a four-goal performance along with two assists. The newly appointed team captain Luke Seydel contributed two goals and one assist for Carthage.

The Red Men outshot Hanover 61-23, and tallied more ground balls (34-21).

Andy Meyers registered a 16-of-23 mark from the face-off circle, along with a goal scored. Reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Week Zerik Rodriguez notched three saves in 45:00 of work in net for Carthage, before Callaghan Quinn came in the final 15:00 and registered two saves.

The Carthage goalkeeping staff managed a unit that converted 11-of-12 clears on the afternoon. The victory gives Carthage a 4-0, 0-0 CCIW mark while Hanover falls to 0-4, 0-0 ORLC.
