KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team squared-off against Olivet College in their final non-conference bout of the season at Art Keller Field on Saturday, which turned out to be a record-setting affair. Junior attack
Andy Szun propelled the Red Men over Olivet 26-1 with a single-game school record 11 goals scored, which broke
Danny Morse's previous school-record nine goals set in a 28-1 win over Defiance College on April 20, 2013. Szun added three assists for a game-high 14 points, which tied Morse's single-game points record also set on April 20, 2013.
"A lot of guys did some really nice things, Emmett's (Sullivan) goal at the end was a great goal for him, and Andy (Szun) set two school records," said Red Men head lacrosse coach
David Neff. "I thought Cal (Quinn) came in and played great in the second half, as well as the young defense."
Szun accounted for 14 of the 46 points scored in the contest by Carthage, the fifth-most in school history. The Red Men's 20 assists in the contest is tied for third on the school's all-time single-game list. Fellow Winnipeg, Manitoba native
Colin Poitras, who assisted on three of Szun's goals, contributed three goals and five assists for a career-high eight points in the contest.
William Gast posted a career-high four points in the game with two goals and two assists. Fifteen Red Men contributed a point in the game.
Andy Meyers, who posted a career-high 19 ground balls in the game, was nearly flawless in the face-off circle where he registered a 21-of-22 mark en route to a 27-of-30 team figure.
The Red Men held advantages in shots (64-16), ground balls (55-23) and clears (19-19/12-22). Red Men goalkeeper
Zerik Rodriguez made one save within the first 30:00 before he was relieved at halftime by
Callaghan Quinn, who finished the game with four saves. Comet's goalie Jake Steele finished the contest with 13 saves.
The victory improves the Red Men's record to 8-3, 0-0 CCIW while Olivet falls to 0-7, 0-0 MIAA.

Szun registered six of Carthage's eight first-quarter goals en route to an 8-0 edge. His three second-quarter goals tied Morse's single-game record of nine at intermission, which propelled the Red Men to a 16-1 lead. Olivet's lone goal in the contest occurred with 4:48 left in the second quarter when Joshua Brantley cut Olivet's margin to 15-1 before
Ben Morgan's second-quarter buzzer-beating goal pushed the score to 16-1.
The Comets peppered 10 shots within the final 30:00, where Red Men goalkeeper
Callaghan Quinn was there to stop four of them. The Red Men emptied their bench for the second half, where they outshot Olivet 26-10, and outscored them 10-0 to secure a 26-1 victory.
The Red Men will open CCIW play at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m.
