KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team bounced back from their midweek defeat on Friday night with a three-set sweep of the Adrian College Bulldogs at Tarble Arena, 3-0 [25-18, 25-22, 25-19].
The win moves the #2 Red Men to 1-1 in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League and to 14-1 overall, while Adrian falls to 3-7 and 1-2 in the league.
As a team, the Red Men controlled the match with a .365 attack percentage to Adrian's .098 and collected 51 kills to Adrians 27. The Red Men also won the defensive battle, blocking Adrian three more times and picking up 40 digs to the Bulldogs 35.
Freshman outside hitter
Matt Slivinski led the Red Men on Friday with a .522 hitting percentage and tied for a team-high with a new career-high 13 kills along with
Evan Walsh.
Zach Lillig was third on the team with 11 kills on 13 attempts, registering a .769 attack percentage, which is the best by a Red Men starting middle this season.
Setter
Matt Reinsel had the 46 assists in the three-setter, which is the third most assists in the season for the junior and the most in three sets on the year.
Kai Cromwell registered all three of the Red Men's service aces in the win and along with
Evan Walsh, tied for the team lead with 13 digs. Slivinski and
Tony Allen were right behind Cromwell and Walsh with seven digs each.
Zach Lillig led the Red Men at the net with four blocks.
The Red Men will have a quick turnaround, as they face Olivet College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Tarble Arena.
