KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's volleyball team stayed unbeaten on the season, as the #2 Red Men overcame a first set setback before topping the Sabres of Marian University, 3-1.
The win moves the Red Men to 13-0 on the season, while Marian falls to 5-11 with the loss.
After going seven-straight matches without dropping a set, the Red Men opened Saturday with a first set loss as the Red Men gave away a first set in which the Sabres combined for just nine kills and a .138 hitting percentage, but took advantage of the Red Men's eight service errors to win the first set.
After that however, Carthage managed to write the ship and committed just ten service errors the rest of the way as the Red Men rebounded with attack percentages of .364, .481 and .542 to take the match [23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-12].
Matt Reinsel had his second most assists of the season in Saturday's win, as the junior setter dished out 44 assists with
Evan Walsh on the receiving end of 16 them to lead Carthage. Joining Walsh in double figures in kills were
Matt Slivinski and
Zach Lillig with ten each.
Max Bongratz had one of the best games of his career defensively, as the senior middle blocker had part in ten blocks in the win, with a number of them coming at key times for the Red Men.

Tony Allen also had a great night defensively for the Red Men, as the junior defensive specialist picked up a career-high 12 digs in the win.
The Red Men will return to action on Wednesday as they open their 2018 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League season at North Central College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. from Naperville, Ill.
