KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's swimming and diving team turned in a pair of victories on Saturday, defeating the Illinois Institute of Technology and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe, Illinois Wesleyan University at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
The pair of wins moves the Lady Reds to 3-0 in head-to-head competition in 2018, while the Titans went 1-1 on the day with a win over IIT, who finished 0-2.
Carthage recorded nine first place finishes on the afternoon, including a pair in relays. To open the day,
Heather Walker,
Leah Boldt,
Gianna McGuire and
DeAnn Jones took first in the 200-yard medley relay [1:52.31] and closed the day with McGuire, Walker and Jones joining
Lauren Patt to win the 200 freestyle relay [1:40.20] with Jones coming from behind to earn first with a season-best split time.
Individually, Jones won a pair of individual events, taking first in the 50 free [24.47] and 100 free [54.09], while
Heather Walker took first in the 100 backstroke [1:03.20].
Jordyn Bloode won all-three events that she swam individually on Saturday, winning the 200 free [1:58.91], 500 free [5:17.54] and 200 back [2:14.71].
Julia Cozzi rounded out the Lady Reds wins on the day with a first-place finish in the one-meter diving competition [372.55].
Next up for Carthage, the Lady Reds will head to the University of Chicago for the three-day Phoenix Fall Classic. The weekend-long event will begin Friday and run through Sunday.
