Red Men Capture 15th Place at 2018 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional

COLFAX, WIS.—The Carthage College men's cross country squad expedited the Northern half of Wisconsin on Saturday when they competed in the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Regional at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin. The Red Men's sneak peek of the course on September 28th resulted in 19th place out of 29 squads at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational. That paid dividends for Carthage as they pulled down 15th place out of 35 teams at the 2018 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional.
 
Defending NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Champion North Central College (Ill.) registered the 2018 Midwest Regional team championship with 30 points. UW-La Crosse notched the other Midwest region automatic bid with a second-place mark of 74. Brad Hodkinson (Washington Mo.) won the 2018 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Individual Championship with a time of 24:31.8.
 
Logan Engberg commanded the Red Men with a 52nd-place mark of 25:56.0, exactly one minute off his previous career-best mark of 24:56.0 achieved at the 2017 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. Camren Howard was on Engberg's heels in 90th place with a time of 26:38.1. Steven Wright was :28 off a career-best time when he crossed the finish line at 26:54.4, good enough for 104th place.
 
Thomas Olenek tallied a 118th-place time of 27:10.7 while Suneed Ahmed was the fifth Carthage finisher in 137th place with a 27:35.2. Peyton Heiser was :08 off a career-best time with a 27:55.3, which put him in 157th place out of 253 competitors. Trevor Tomich (28:11.3) rounded out the seven Red Men finishers in 171st place.
 
The Red Men will discover their NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship fate via press release on ncaa.com on Sunday, November 11 no later than 3:00 p.m. (ET).
