Red Men Top Silver Lake College On Friday, 4-1

MADISON, Wis. – The Carthage College Red Men rebounded from a tough loss during the week at North Park to start the weekend off right, defeating the Lakers of Silver Lake College in Madison, 4-1.

The win moves the Red Men to 6-6 on the season, while Silver Lake falls to 1-5 with the loss.

Carthage struggled early as the Red Men were held to just seven first half shots and three on goal.  Fortunately for the Red Men, Adrian Herrera was able to find the back of the net in the 12th minute to give Carthage the 1-0 lead, which would hold up through the half.

In the second half, the Red Men offense picked things up.  The Red Men registered 22 second half shots and added a trio of goals before a 90th minute Lakers goal supplied the final scoring.

Adrian Herrera netted his second of the game in the 61st minute to match his career-high for goals in a match.  In the 80th minute, Hugo Flores scored his first career goal and Richard Flores matched him, putting in the fourth goal, and his first as a Red Men.

Sophomore Andrew Ochoa made a pair of saves in the win.

For the match, the Red Men outshot Silver Lake 29-9 and owned a 14-3 advantage on goal.
