KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team's final home game of the 2018 campaign pitted them against Millikin University for a Saturday-evening affair. The Lady Reds took a 1-0 lead into halftime courtesy of
Morgan Verbeten's goal in the 35
th minute, but were victim of two second-half Millikin goals in a 2-1 loss despite ending the game with a 16-4 advantage in shots. Verbeten contributed four of those shots while
Joanne Stanfa tallied three.

Emily Furmanek recorded one save in a complete-game effort, and her counterpart Jennifer Miller stopped six shots for the Big Blue.

The loss sends Carthage to 7-6-3, 1-3-2 CCIW while Millikin improves to 6-9, 3-3 CCIW.

Carthage torched the Big Blue for eight shots and three corner kicks within the opening 45:00. One of those opportunities found the back of the net when Verbeten's third goal of the season in the 35
th minute gave Carthage a 1-0 lead.

Millikin registered a pair of second-half shots, but both found the back of the net when Lucy Koger's goals in the 47
th and 60
th minutes gave them a 2-1 lead. The Lady Reds responded with a 7-0 advantage in shots to close the game, but Millikin goalkeeper Jennifer Miller stopped two of them to secure her team a 2-1 victory.

The Big Blue's Shae Giovanni drew the game's only yellow card in the 82
nd minute.

Carthage will end their 2018 season with a two-game road swing, which will begin at Wheaton College (Ill.) on Wednesday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m.
