Lady Reds Host Pointers in Final Non-Conference Tilt, Open CCIW Play Against Cardinals

KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's soccer team (6-3, 0-0 CCIW) will host UW-Stevens Point in their final non-conference bout of 2017 on Wednesday, September 27 at 4:30 p.m. The CCIW-opener will pit the Lady Reds against North Central College (Ill.) at Art Keller Field on Saturday, September 30 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Carthage enters their battle with UW-Stevens Point with a CCIW-leading 23 assists, which also ranks 19th in NCAA Division III. Anna McHatton contributed five of those assists, while fellow first-year Lady Red Erin Otto tallied four. Maggie Washelesky, who owns five goals and three assists for 13 points, already matched her stat line from last season through nine games. Kelsey Dejno (6g, 0a) and Erin Otto (4g, 4a) are deadlocked in second on the Lady Reds scoring chart.
 
Carthage goalkeeper Emily Furmanek, who owns seven starts this season, carries a 2.25 goals against average and a .660 save percentage in 639:27 of work.
 
ABOUT UW-STEVENS POINT (6-2, 0-0 WIAC)
 
The Pointers will take a four-game win streak into their meeting with Carthage. Three of those four victories occurred via the shutout. Among the 19 NCAA Division III schools with more assists than Carthage is UW-Stevens Point, who carries 24 this season.
 
The Pointers lead the WIAC in assists per game (3.00), goals against average (.494), points per game (10.75), scoring offense (3.88), shutout percentage (.625), goals (31), and points (86).
 
Francesca Hamilton, who owns eight goals and two assists, leads the WIAC with 18 points. Following her is Maddy Hardyman's five goals and four assists for 14 points. Pointers goalkeeper Sarah Peplinski, who owns eight starts, carries a 0.53 goals against average and a .882 save percentage.
 
Dawn Crow is in her third season as UW-Stevens Point head women's soccer coach. The Lady Reds own a 2-1 all-time record against the Pointers.
 
ABOUT NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE (ILL.) (3-4-1, 0-0 CCIW)
 
Before Saturday's bout with Carthage, the Cardinals will host Benedictine University on Wednesday. North Central (Ill.) will pursuit the win column for the first time since September 15 when they tallied a 4-3 victory over Aurora University.
 
North Central (Ill.), who finished tied for fourth place with Carthage last season, snuck into the 2016 CCIW Tournament via the head-to-head tiebreaker.
 
Lexi Dimovski leads the Cardinals' lineup with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Anna Brodjian rounds out the North Central (Ill.) double-digit point scorers with five goals on the season. Cardinals' goalkeeper Gretchen Frantz, who owns five starts this season, carries a 1.67 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.

Andrew Gamarra is in his second season as North Central (Ill.) head women's soccer coach. Carthage owns a 14-4-4 all-time record against the Cardinals.

The Lady Reds will face Wheaton College (Ill.) in a road game on Wednesday, October 4 at 4:30 p.m.
