GRANVILLE, OHIO.—The Carthage College men's lacrosse team made a return trip to #7 Denison University in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament Second Round on Wednesday afternoon.. The Red Men couldn't get even with Denison from last season's opening-round game of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament as they fell 17-9.

Andrew Krom and
Andy Szun each notched a hat trick for the Carthage offense. Krom tallied both of Carthage's man-up goals to give the team a 2-for-3 figure in that category.

The Red Men conclude their 2017 campaign with a 16-5, 6-0 CCIW record while Denison advances to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament Third Round with a 16-1, 8-0 NCAC mark.

The Big Red jumped to a 3-0 advantage at the 9:07 mark of the first quarter before Carthage narrowed that margin over the next two minutes.
Ethan Flight dished a pass to
Andy Szun about eight yards in front of the net, where he buried a goal to narrow Denison's lead to 3-1 with 8:14 left in the first quarter.

Andy Meyers tallied his second-career goal at the 7:05 mark of the first quarter to get Carthage within one of Denison at 3-2.

The Red Men couldn't inch closer as Denison cruised to an 8-1 run en route to an 11-3 halftime lead.

Third-quarter goals from Krom,
Ben Morgan and Szun helped Carthage get even with Denison 3-3 in the frame's scoring column, which made the score 14-6 score. Krom and Szun put the finishing touches on their hat tricks in the fourth quarter, but it couldn't lift the Red Men in a 17-9 loss. The fourth quarter also saw Carthage and the Big Red play to a 3-3 decision.Â
