Joining the trio off the bench, Mike Kjeldsen added five points to give the Red Men a 45-14 edge in bench points on the night.

Elmhurst's Derek Dotlich opened hot for the Bluejays and forced the Red Men into an early timeout with Dotlich outscoring the Red Men singlehandedly, 8-2.  Later, Carthage responded with tough defense and blocks from Perry and Brad Kruse during a 6-0 Carthage run to get the Red Men within two at 13-11.

Dotlich finished the half as the high scorer with 14 points.

After Drew Joiner tied the game at, 17-17, on his first basket of night, Elmhurst responded with a 6-0 run before a three by Joiner and a pair of Perry free throws kept the game within three with 7:35 left in the half, 27-24.

An 11-0 run 8-0 run would give Elmhurst their largest lead of the half and eventually take a 42-31 lead into the halftime break behind a 26-18 advantage on the boards and an 8-3 Jays edge in second chance points.

Elmhurst exploded out of the locker room much like they did in the first half with a 6-0 run to push their lead to 17 at 48-31.

A 7-0 with field goals from Perry, Stevenson and an and-one from Thomas to cut the lead back to ten, 48-38, with 17:13 remaining.

Three point struggles, which haunted the Red Men in the first half going just 2-12, continued in the second half as the Red Men started the final 20 minutes just 1-5 with their first of the second half coming from Derek Mason with 12:59 remaining to get the Red Men within 20 at 61-43.

Following Kruse's two at the line, Elmhurst's desperation last chance heave fell into Kruse hands and the Red Men walked out with the improbable comeback win, 93-91.
